OT Glider Plane covers by Alice in PA[_3_]
I think I've mentioned this project before, but now it's done! A friend and neighbor asked me if I could do a sewing project for him. He said it would be like pillowcases! Yep, 27 foot long pillowcases to use as covers for his club's glider plane. We used poly/cotton as anything else would...

ribbon bragging by kratersge
I did my first "exhibit babysitter" shift at the local fair yesterday, and found great ribbons pinned to my entries. Best in Show for my celtic knot, plus some special ribbon 1st in wallhanging for my Blue Willow, plus some special ribbon 3rd in "machine quilted by maker" for my stashy Irish...

Downy quilts by Karen, Queen of Squishies[_2_]
I'm making good progress on my Downy quilts. I have 2 of their tops and 2 of mine quilted. Need to quilt the last 1 of each, bind them, and sew their labels on. I *really* want to start cutting up my scraps into useable squares of whatever sizes. How far do you think I'll get before I just...

pressing spray recipe by Taria
http://www.aquiltingsheep.com/p/pressing-spray-recipe.html Has anyone tried this copy cat recipe for pressing spray? I remember Cindy talking about how she likes the Mary Ellen stuff so much. This is a lot cheaper and handier to make than find around here. Taria

after a delay of a week, tonight we get into our apartment and start our job at the motel. We've been training at another motel owned by the same person. I will be glad to be out of a motel room. -- Mary http://community.webshots.com/user/mardor1948?vhost=community

Looking for fabric by Robyn
Hi, Was wondering if someone could help with a fabric search. On the cover of Love of Quilting (Fons & Porter) March/April 2010. I am after the Tulip Panel and Tulip Fabric in the border, I can't find it here in Oz. It's a fabric collection by Ro Gregg for Northcott. Thanks Robyn

Glad to see you home safely, Sandy; but it sounds like it was a lovely trip. Seeing family is so heart-warming - and the side tour to the Loire must have been beautiful. Have a great time at quilt camp - I look forward to seeing this year's masterpiece! You always do such superb work. .. In...

Hello, I'm new here... by Ursula Schrader
What can I say? Some of you may know me from alt.sewing, but I just got addicted to patchwork and quilting. Kate XXXXXX (Hi Kate!wave hello) recommended this group before, so now that I'm an official junkie I thought I might join you. What have I done so far? Currently I'm working on my first...

I'm refusing to buy by Sunny[_2_]
ANY fabric from amazon.com. I'm a very frequent online shopper for fabric. I don't have a problem buying on line what I can't find here in town. But now Amazon.com is carrying fabric. I think it's limited -- for now -- but I will not ever, ever buy fabric from Amazon. They carry everything else,...

Quilt labels (again?) by Sartorresartus
OK, I admit it, I don't label my quilts. I know I should. I think I would like to. But My quilts are usually reversible, so if I put a label on the 'back' when you turn it over it will show. Yes, I know I could always embroider something in the margin, but that isn't always practical, either.

Shibori by Julia in MN[_5_]
A friend and I tried some shibori yesterday, using bleach to discharge the dye in the fabric. We had lots of fun trying different ways to tie the fabric and seeing how the bleach changed the color of the fabric. I had mostly black fabric, which turned a lovely brown when bleached. General...

quilting is once again in my future!! by off kilter [email protected]
Yay!! It's actually been a while since I made a quilt of any kind. However, as I'm finishing up projects, I'm also getting ready to get to work on an Areil quilt for the daughter of a friend. I have the first blocks cut out, but they have been sitting on the design wall for about a year. I think...

The completed surrey top that I made has now reached my brother, and is installed on his restored child's surrey from the 50's. He sent me a photo on his cell phone, so I thought I'd share it with you. http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2148765010094495901uZIDLy -- Alice in...
