Trousers (pants) are worn quite wide at the moment and also long, giving a large "break". Can anyone tell me how to do a hem (at the end of the leg!) which is "dropped"; that is, longer at the back than at the front. Due to the angle, the turned-in material no longer distributes itself evenly...

Any machines to avoid? by ant
I had a look through google groups and couldn't see this topic having been discussed lately. I am thinking of getting my very own sewing machine. I pinch my mother's Bernina whenever the pile of alterations hits critical mass (and it has), and I like that machine very much, but they seem to be...

Got a Husqevarna! by ant[_2_]
I went to Sew Simple in Philip, Canberra, that someone recommended last week. Heaps of 2nd hand machines, but ended up going with a mildly-computerised husquevarna. They reckoned it's easy to use, and it didn't have heaps of embroidry stiches (didn't want that stuff). They're servicing it now...

need pattern for fishing cap, fleece or knitted by [email protected]
This may not be the right area to look for a specific pattern, and if not, please direct me to the right area. Years ago I knitted stocking caps for my nephews that were a fish head with long body and tail. Does anyone remember such a pattern?

Is there such a thing as a "complete" kit, machine, software, frames, etc? by Autumn
I am not interested in embroidering huge pictures. I would like something that would put little things on shirt collars, cuffs, pockets, baby and children's clothes. I am thinking absolutely nothing bigger than about 4-5". Most things I would like to do would be little, 1"-2". I have a good...
