Weighted blankets by Jen in FL
James' therapist asked me to try my hand at making weighted blankets, since the person she had been ordering them from usually has a 5+ week delivery time. Weighted blankets are prescribed by a child's occupational therapist to help with sleep issues and to give deep sensory input. You...

Can any of you recommend a reputable place to purchase 3" or 5" charm packs? I'm making a charm quilt and would appreciate a good source. Thanks

I-5, No Calif quilt shops by Nancy
I will be doing a car drive from the SF bay area to Ashland , Or and then on to Sunriver. Are there any must-see quilt shops along the way? I know there was one in Ashland, and there are several nice ones in Bend (and we will get to Sister's one day as well), but I was wondering if there was...

I'm home. :) by Sandy
I've just returned from a lovely week at Quilt Camp in the Pines. I'm pooped and have four new projects, three of which must be finished yet and one of which only needs a pearl button to be complete. The weather in Flagstaff, AZ, was gorgeous this time -- temps in the 80s most of the time and...

squishie thank you by Deanna in Virginia
Julia in Minnesota, thank you so much. I was going to email you but I can't figure out where you can email members from nor their email addresses. I do strip quilts for the children and some elders at Pine Ridge Reservation. I am always in need of strips and pieces of fabric. These will make their...

Start humming M-i-c-k-e-y by Polly Esther
The Mickey Mouse quilt for the shelter is done and my sweetheart says it is a masterpiece. (This is the fellow who would only says 'hmmmmm' if I raised the house 3 stories and turned it to face the east.) After many trials and brain-drains on my part (my computer programs can't decide if I...

OT (and not): I am still alive! by Maria in NC
Hi Everybody, I know I have been gone forever and a day but just as I thought life is getting back to normal and we can settle down and breath, we bought a house. :) So we are going to move again and to say that I am scared is an understatement. I did not really realize how traumatic that last...

Ughhh...US post rates to Aus. by Bronnie
Our Aussie dollar is the strongest for 20 years on the cross rates - 88c to US$1. I thought I would celebrate and buy next year's calendar from Am.Quilt Soc.; bought 2 books on their sale shelf, total cost US $30. Then the crunch -- $30 for postage to Oz. AQS only uses FedEx or UPS. Next time,...

OT - Please help by Jen in FL
Hi, all. I haven't been participating much recently, and I'm sorry to be asking for off-topic help. I am taking a statistics class at my local college, and I lost the data I was collecting, and my project is due Sunday. (I put my clipboard on top of my car, then went to work. Oops!) If you...

bernina accessories by Judy[_2_]
Is there any place where you can buy Bernina accessories on-line? The only Dealer around me is about an hour away. I have been there 3 times and they never have what I need. Not only that, they are the most unfriendly bunch of people that I don't want to deal with them again. Would appreciate...

hmm....... crown jewels coming my way by Karen, Queen of Squishies
Some very beautimous jewels have begun showing up at my house. Methinks there is something to this "retired - and loving it" phrase I've seen around here. Me also thinks that being retired from the Hug list is developing into a crowning jewel of a project. Ohhhh....... I can just picture this...

Stitch length for machine quilting by MaleQuilter
On all of my previous projects, I have used a stitch length of 2.5 (Bernina 640). However, lately I have noticed that other quilters seem to often use a longer stitch length. What stitch length do you use for machine quilting? Jerry in North Alabama http://community.webshots.com/user/MaleQuilter

sleeve on big quilt by Lobo
If rules say "Any quilt measuring longer than 86" must have the sleeve sewn to the full width of the quilt 82 to 86" from the bottom of the quilt." Would that be the top of the sleeve or the bottom of it? Or is the top of a 4" sleeve at 86" and the bottom at 82"? Thanks. ...
