Eucalyptus and Mulberry by
Boomer
I've carved walking sticks from Eucalyptus and Mulberry with some degree of
success, although I am a rank amateur fer sure. Is there any special
processing that should be done on these woods prior to carving? Carving is
definitely easier when the wood is green, but I see in most threads that...

Anyone carve concrete or Hypertufa? by

Hypertufa is concrete made with soft materials like vermiculite and
perlite.
Wear a mask. Vermiculite has asbestos in it. Just found that out yesterday.

where to start by
Brent Beal
To all of those who write in wanting to know which tools to start out with,
the latest edition of Woodcarving Illustrated has a very good article on the
chisels and gouges to begin with.
Good luck and happy caring.

I carve air ! by
Brian Raab
It's a very sophisticated art and air carvings are very beautiful.
Especially nitrogen and argon are good for carving.
Do you want to learn it, too?

best size to mill basswood for carvers by
Bruce H
I have some basswood logs to mill up and I was thinking of saving them
for carvers. What is a good utility dimension for this group. I was
thinking of
6 X 8 X 48 inches. I would anchor seal the ends and sticker them on a
pallet in my barn. How does 6 X 8 sound? I need to stay uniform for
the...

Which Tool? by
BUB 209
I do wood repair for a car restorer and every now and then a tricky
assignment pops up - what it is, some of the old cars from the '30s
have cloth tops over a wood frame. Where the top meets the body
in the back the upholsterer needs a groove to tuck the cloth into, and
I tried using a tiny saw...

Basswood carving by
bubba
Tupelo doesn't fuzz up as bad as basswood. Most places that sell basswood
also sell tupelo.
