Is there anyway to make glass bangles smaller? by
[email protected]
Someone brought me back glass bangles back from India (like this:
http://alumni.media.mit.edu/~sarac/albums/objets/churiholder.sized.jpg)
and they're a bit big and tend fall off my wrists. And I was just
wondering if there was any way to make them smaller? I was thinking
maybe running a thick...

grinding lots of sprues in silver by
Paul WIlson
Hey folks,
I have a project now where I have loads of sterling castings. I need to
grind the sprues down and it's pretty laborious. I arrange the pieces in a
pitch bowl so my hand doesn't get tired and have a fairly ergonomic set-up
so my neck doesn't get sore any more, but I keep thinking...

Hello,
My sister has a vintage 1960s purse my mother gave her. The strap is a
3mm diameter (gold effect) metal snake chain. Recently the chain broke.
Does anyone here know of a good place to source a replacement snake chain?
I've done a couple of google searches and all it came up with was...

Diamond Pastes by
AndrewK
Hi
I would like to know how to make abrasive diamond pastes.
These pastes are typically used for polishing metals and metallographic
samples and are generally supplied in syringes as pastes and solutions.

Moderator's wish: Happy New Year, everyone! by
Peter W.. Rowe,
Hi all,
As you may have noted, I'm back. Rather jet lagged, and now trying to deal with
hundreds of emails, a stack or snail mail, and all the rest that seems to come
with leaving town for a couple weeks.
Part of all that is a bunch of mail in the group inbox, which I'm not sure just
what it is. ...

pate de verre foundry by
Paul WIlson
Hey,
I've had some luck sending my waxes to various commercial foundries to be
cast in silver. It took a while to find the right ones, but
it works for me.
I have a few waxes that I'd like to do in the pate de verre technique. Does
anyone know of a pate de verre foundry that can take my waxes...

Question on Buffing Technique by
Curtis Gates
A few years ago, I was in a hurry to get the firescale off a sterling
piece that I was finishing on a tripoli buff which had not been "raked"
for a while. Per usual, the piece got a little too hot to hold
comfortably. At the time, I was in a hurry and was too impatient to let
it cool by itself,...

name of clasp? by
[email protected]
A few years ago it was fashionable to take a couple of small beaded
necklaces, twist them and secure each end with a (about 1.5inch) a clasp.
The clasp looked like an oval and opened and one side of the twisted
necklace was secured, put around the neck and then the other end was
secured. I have...

Companies that Publish Auction Results by
Talal Itani
Hello,
I was told that some companies publish auction results for jewelry and other
items. Some in books, others on CD-ROM, and even online. I am interested
in auction results of fine, vintage, and antique jewelry. Do you know the
names of the companies that provide this information? ...
