Confetti stitches and miniature pictures. by F.James Cripwell
When stitching computer generated patterns of great works of art, as I have observed before, I am amazed at some of the detail which these patterns show when stitched. There are times when a few confetti stitches bring out wonderful details; there are others when such stitches add absolutely...

"The Passion" by Raine
Hoping I don't open up a can of worms here. . . Has anyone seen this movie? I just got back and I have to say that was the most difficult 2 hours I think I've ever had in my life. I cried almost the entire time and at one point I thought I was going to have to leave. . . I feel emotionally and...

Norwegian Embroidery by lngrid
Would anyone here happen to know anything about rosesøm? It's a kind of traditional norwegian embroidery (yes, there is something besides Hardanger!) that you can see here http://www.telemarksnett.no/bilder/folkekunst/bunad3.html and...

Oh, my.... by Tracey
After having all of my cross stitch experience (little as it is) be with Aida cloth, yesterday I started my first piece on linen. And I just have to say. Yuck. Ick. This is soooo sloooooooooooow. :P Humor me. Tell me I'll get faster as I get used to it. Tracey

basting in lines for cross stitch by me
I am starting a very small piece of cross stitch but it is being put(temporarily) on a large piece of fabric that has other stitching on it. I have begun the process of basting every tenth line down and then across but have started to think about how long a process this is going to be. Quite...

Question about copyrights and inspirations by Cheryl Isaak
Ok - this is related to my other question - I have an idea for a border based on something I saw in a calendar of Frank Lloyd Wright sketches. I don't plan on it being an exact "copy" of the inspiration, but it is close. How shaky is that ground? Thanks in advance! Cheryl

Monica Ferris by escapee
I think her next book should be about this drama of the firehouse angel fiasco. Truth is often better than fiction. Who could we kill, though? Need a good, cheap, knowledge expanding present for yourself or a friend? http://www.animaux.net/stern/present.html

Ready gridded Aida - WONDERFUL! by Pat Porter
I`m so pleased with my pre-gridded Aida! I know it`s a bit expensive, but if you boil it down to the hours you spend gridding, it`s well worth it! The clever bit is the way the contrasting thread (nice pale grey on 18 count - a rather harsh black on 14 count!) runs along the TOP of each tenth row...

Wisper Thread by Linda Wright
I am doing a project on 28 count linen and it calls for Wisper thread. I've found that it just doesn't stay fuzzy after the first two or three stitches. Any suggestions, or is Wisper best saved for larger Aida type cloth? TIA. Linda in Columbia, MO

OT - slang questions by Cheryl Isaak
My DS wants to know if these terms are elsewhere in the country or if it a New England thing. So #1 - rice boy or rice burner referring to any motorcycle built for speed (aka crotch rockets) not for touring #2 - riced or riced out - any car that has been extensively modified - lowered, after...

that is the question . . . Putting it another way: when do you live with what you know is wrong or decide to do it over even though your 'mistakes' aren't that horrendous? -- another anne, add ingers to reply

OT - MIL stories by anne
The rant about the MIL from he** started me down memory lane because mine was a piece of work too. For quite some time, we supplemented her small income and she used some of the money to buy us cheap clothes and junk for which we were supposed to be eternally grateful. She insisted on bi-weekly...
