Heres my problem:

Casting on new stitches by
Harlan Messinger
I'm knitting-in-the-round a flip-top mitten (like the Broad Street
mittens at
http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall02/PATTbroadstreet.html
but not that pattern). After getting close to the fingers, you knit the
palm stitches onto store them on a string holder, then knit the back
stitches, then cast...

Lent by
llindallovesllamas
It has been interesting to read your thoughts on lent. I grew up
Catholic, so I know first-hand
about giving things up! But then someone shared the real reason for
Easter with me: the
fact that Jesus died to pay for each of our sins so we could go to
heaven when we die.
I don"t "DO" religion...

Home for a bit by
Katherine
This is reading week, so I am in Labrador, enjoying real winter at
alst. Cold, but crisp and clean. I can drink water again without
having to buy it in bottles. Not much knitting time, but at least I am
in my own bed for a few days. I will check in regularly, as I do have
a bit more unassigned time...

NYCO Gansey by
No Name
New Years day I cast on for a traditional Cornish Seaman's gansey using
"Fisherman's Wool" (930 yd/lb.) at a gauge of 8+ spi. I have made a point of
only working on it a few hours per day as I help my wife watch movies in the
evening. (Bad movies result in the most progress. Good movies result...

Oddball sweater post---?? by
Merri
Hi again all---
I have read just about every post since the beg. of the year and I can't
find the one I posted a couple of weeks ago about the 'oddball' sweater that
I am working on. Some of you replied, and I didn't get a chance to read
them all; there was a website that someone posted a link to;...

Need for Speed? by
DAB
Since I have been reading here I notice comments about knitting at a speed
of and I just want to know what the reason for knitting fast is?
Do the speed knitters do this because they have a forced timetable
.......like making samples for yarn shops, competitions or for selling. My
situation...

Moebius patterns; links! by
Aud
I answered Dennis in another thread, and sent these links!
But may be some of you, who do not follow that link ,also would like to
bookmark some patterns for later use.
As far as I can see, are all these patterns "genuine" moebius,
(NOT scarfs "turned and grafted" together)
here is the link for...

Odd-ball Sweater by
Merri
Hello everyone;
I'm so glad to have found this group again! I went from dialup to cable.
I know some of you have made the Odd-ball sweater, knit from the top down,
and then each sleeve is divided and then short rows knitted; again short
rows for the bottom two triangles. I've just finished the...

Oh the storm we're getting by
Carol In WI
The power goes on and off. As of this morning it looks crusty, some of the
interstates are shut down. Later we're suppose to get more of it. My
daughter left town on Friday, she's about 2 hours away. Don't know how
she'll get home. Kids don't listen when you tell them not to kind of thing....

Question about binding off for neckline by
[email protected]
I've finished the right side of my baby sweater, and now the instructions
say to bind off four stitches to begin the neckline. I understand how to
bind off, but when the instructions say 'four stitches', I'm confused.
Since you knit or purl two stitches, then by binding off those two stitches,...

Ping! Millie James by
Bernadette
Millie
I'm sorry but I didn't think to offer you details of the stitch I used.
It is a simple 8 row pattern with across repeats over 6 stitches.
The version I used was adjusted for knitting in the round.
If you want to use the pattern for a scarf using two needles then I
recommend that you cast...

From Noreen, just checking in by
YarnWright
Just a quick note this Sunday afternoon to say hi and catch up on
'things'.
I've been really busy, which as our Katherine will attest, is nothing
'new', LOL!
I've oodles of things going on, and it appears that that's not going to
end or even slow down anytime soon.
Ya'll got me back in the moebius...

which yarn/fibre to use for a baby? by
nickieknits
Can anyone give advice on composition of yarn for baby clothes, a baby
blanket, and a shawl please? I'm thinking wool should probably be
avoided because of allergy issues - is acrylic really the best? I'm
in the UK and need advice on where to source suitable yarn, also. I
live in London, which...

U.S. Grown Alpaca by

A couple of comments from the thread "Alpaca and lace vent" ---

WoolyGooly: "...as Lee said there's no North American market for North
American-grown alpaca. The things are "designer livestock". When they
first started getting...
