Netting for garments? by Mary Fisher
Spouse demonstrates netting and uses various yarns to show its versatility. I now have far more than enough vegetable bags, toy cradles, real hammocks, fishing nets, rabbit nets, fleece nets etc and for the new season am trying to think of new applications. I'm sure that once I saw a pattern...

Now A Steek Question by hesira
In addition to the cable cardigan, I'm going to make the Enid Cardigan in the Winter 2006 Interweave Knits. The pattern calls for a provisional cast on and steeking, neither of which I've ever done. The yarn called for is Reynolds Whiskey, 100% wool. Because I am uncertain about steeking, I...

Yarn plug by WoolyGooly
Full disclosu I don't know the man, never met him, likely never will. If you're in the market for a sweater-sized quantity of absolutely unbelievable yarn find "alpacabuyer" on Ebay. He's offering 100% BFL yarn in Aran and DK, and he occasionally offers a hank fo sock yarn as well. I...

Looking for a pattern I have seen somewhere by Susan Carey
Making squares for exchange for my own use, I recall the pattern for 2007 with the numbers and superimposed over it a champagne glass. Has anyone seen this and if so, can you direct me to it. I am just interested in seeing how it is constructed. Thanks, Susan C

The elusive yarn I want by Susan Carey
Well, I went ahead and ordered 5 skeins of Paton's Dark Sage Shetland Chunky. It is far too light to match or blend with the color I already have. As I indicated to another member, the color closest that I have found is dark forest green or pine from Lion Brand's Woolease. Now comes the question....

Another project finished by Vintage Purls
Hi all, Well, I'm quite chuffed with my last wee work (if I do say so myself). I had a go at dyeing (food colouring) and made a self striping single that I plyed with a natural cream. I was going for a random look for a wee cardy for a friends new baby - pleasingly random is quite hard to achieve,...

Quick note to catch up: by YarnWright
Hello RCTY! The move went OK. The VA 'hearing' was, as those things go, inconclusive, it could be 90 days before we hear the outcome. Christmas was a bust, we've still not received our parcel from Christy and Terri, and no, it's not the USPS or UPS's fault, it's, as usual, Christys'. I'm...

New member by Bev
Hi, I'm Bev. I've been spinning since about 1989 or so. I know how to knit, sort of, but really don't enjoy it much. I do a lot of crochet and I prefer to use my own yarn. I've spun about everything that's spin-able and most like to spin natural fiber just as it comes from whatever type of...

Question about machine knitting magazines or books... by Susie
Hi everyone, I haven't been here in quite a while. Once in a while I stop by and skim the messages. I asked for help way back I think in October of 2005 when I started knitting and you all helped me so much. I think I've popped in a few times to write in since then but can't remember. :) You can...
