Fabric Scraps by
Betty in Wi
This morning in the St. Paul Pioneer Press in a column called Everyday
Cheapskate.....
Apparently some time ago someone wrote in and asked what they could do with
fabric scraps and a small organization in Texas that makes quilts for
shelters, churches and other charities said they would take them....

Quilty weekend by
Maureen Wozniak
I was home alone this weekend and went on a major quilty binge! Friday
I took a class at the LQS. It was the Quilted Letters with Mary Lou
Hallenback. (Reminds me, I need to take that to work this morning to
show my friend.) That lasted all day and after some supper I was back
to work pressing...

OT - setting for 9-patches? by
Johanna Gibson
As I was packing all of my quilt blocks and charms the other day, I
found a bunch of 9-patches from a swap I was in last year (it's still
going on, over on swapping2friendship, if you're interested).
These are 8" blocks finished, and I have 25 in blue, 25 in gold, 25
in red and 25 in brown. The 4...

supposedly from the same person but obviously not as they
originated fron differnet countries.

SM Frustration by
Helen in MN
I am regularly getting my HST beginning corners stuck in my machine (Janome
3500. I have a throat plate with just a small hole. I even try the little
piece of fabric first. But it still all bunches up and won't go through.
Could I be using the wrong size of needle? Would that make any...

Mary-Ellen Hopkins by
Poke First National
I spent an enjoyable day last Saturday along with 100+ other patchwork
quilters attending a Mary Ellen lecture at Latrobe in Tasmania. Maybe there
is hope for me ploughing through my scraps after all if I use her short cut
and easier methods. At 74 years old she is still a dynamo.
However, I...

Teflon by
Betty in Wi
Has anyone tried those teflon sheets that you can tape on your sewing
machine bed so that the quilt moves more freely when you are quilting---or
just plain sewing. The quilt seems to stick to the new sewing machine table
I bought for my Bernina. They cost $19.95 in Keepsake Quilting and are only
9...

Teeny Tiny Happy Dance by
Sharon Harper
I finally backed and birthed the "Poly-Denim 9 Patch" I started ooooooh,
let's just say aways back. It's been sittin there gatherin' dust because I
couldn't find a backing wide enough that I liked. Let's just say I found
one finally which wasn't wide enough but I snipped and fudged and...

Quick Bind by
ALZ
Has anyone used the Martelli Quick Bind. I've had nothing but
frustration. First it won't fit my PQ 1500, so I'm using it on my
Bernina 1630. The plastic snap on attachment isn't rigid, so it moves
all over while I'm sewing and have have to use my elbow to keep it
straight while I feed the quilt. ...

OT- teenagers by
Joanne Passmore
"There are times when about the only thing you can do with a teenager
is wish you had more duct tape."
Just to reply to some of the earlier posts on 'kids'. I would say just hang
on tight to them and tell them how much you love them...(even while they are
driving you crazy!) I am a guidance...

DrQuilter
I am signing off for now. We are leaving tomorrow for a 3 week
work/vacation trip back home. I give a talk at a workshop, hence my

considering the ticket is like $1300! :o) Coming back Oct. 16th.
We still have to go buy some...

OT - Dazed and confused... by
Kate Dicey
...cat! Cornflake had an argument with a car on his way home from
the orchard this morning, and is slightly concussed. There appear to be
no major injuries, but I've left him at the vet for the morning for
observation.
The lass who bumped him was as shocked as he was, poor thing! The lads
who...

Stash building by
MoragP
When you buy fabric for your stash, how much do you buy.
This is just fabric you love but for which you have no immediate use.
I seem to have a million fat quarters, some of which are no longer available as
yardage, and I'm stuck making scrappy quilts.
Oh well, I guess it's time to pick a pattern...

Are you out there Madame Flutterby? I realised we hadn't heard from you for

walking out to check my newly planted tomatos, cucumbers and...

NOT my favourite colours by
Denise Jameson
But, I'm happy dancing just the same.
I was 'conned' by our guild president to make 'something' with a
couple of fabrics she chose as a challenge. Our guild is having a
show in October and these entries will be displayed together and
judged both by a judge and by viewer's choice. You can see it...

Signature Quilt and Gel Pens by
DavesFatChick
Hey all,
I'm working on this evil project my mother wrangled me into. It's a signature
quilt. We went with gel pens because of the expense (all mine, but I got 85%
of the pens back).
I know I read about this before. I need to set the ink with an iron, right?
Any special instructions?
Also, I...

Also, I have a picture of a finished quilt and label in the finished album.
