Who likes ladybugs? by
Felice Friese
My memory fails me, but I remember sending a ladybug pattern to someone. Any
of you who are bugs about ladybugs might enjoy the 30-plus ladybug items at
www.serengeticatalog.com. Search for ladybug, of course.

deerfield embroidery by
[email protected]
Hi,
Does anyone know of any good resources for learning Deerfield
embroidery? Books, websites, museums etc?
Someone mentioned this style of embroidery to me recently and I thought
I really must look into it.
Does anyone know if it is done in crewel wools or linen thread or
something else?

Pronunciation of Aida by
Virginia Hughes
This is probably an old question hereabouts, but I am tired of never
knowing the answer so I am asking it of experts. I have an unabridged
dictionary, but it gives no defintion for Aida cloth, just 1)"an opera"
and 2)"female name". Both are pronounced Ah-ee-da. Does that apply to
the cloth, too, or...

A real tragedy. by
F.James Cripwell
This is our first long weekend of the summer, here in Canada;
Victoria Day. I came down to the cottage today, Friday. After I got all
settled in, I took out my needlework I had brought down with me, and sure
enough, I had the pattern, floss, needles and scissors, but I have left
behind the canvas...

O.T: replacing wallpaper with paint? by
Liz
My bathroom is driving me crazy! We lived with the ugly wallpaper (1
ft square Italian tile type design) for about 12 years but I finally
peeled that off about three years ago. It seems to have been the water
resistant type that, when peeled off, leaves a newsprint type mocha
colored paper...

GRRRRRRR by
Karen C - California
Seanette's Pet Geek had OK'd the purchase of a Compaq notebook computer
a couple months ago. It's already in the shop with power supply problems.
They sent me home with a loaner, which has already developed power
supply problems.
I e-mailed support to inquire whether I just happened to get two...

what do you think of the DMC Linens? by
KCat
Just for grins, i bought one of the linen sets - needed something to add to
my order besides a few stitchbow bows....
as yet I have no clue what I would use them for.... but am curious as to
where this sort of floss is most useful.
i've been stitching for 25 years - but I've never "studied" it -...

stiffning crochet problem by
Ron & Sandy Swain
No matter what I use to stiffen crochet projects, I notice that the thread
turns from white white to off white. In the booklets the pictures always
show the projects as very white. Does anyone
know how to fix this problem?? Thanks, Sandy

Whipped and threaded stitches questions by
anne
I've been going through Enthoven's The Stitches of Creative Embroidery and have
a few questions. The diagrams and finished results for whipped and threaded
(aka woven) stitches look very similar. Am I right in that a whipped stitch
pierces the fabric while a threaded stitch doesn't?
When I tried...

DMC by
D.M.Evans
I have always wondered about DMC and Anchor, what are the differences and who
uses what. I have used DMC because it is more readily available and this
year I have started using their BOW system. I have their travel bag and mini
travel bag. They also have a roll case. I have bought the storage box...

DMC 471 by
Sunsitter
Hi I've been lurking for a while but haven't posted in a long time. I've
started a chart with my old DMC 471 floss and bought a new skein. It doesn't
match -- it's quite a bit brighter. It's part of a lawn, and I don't want to
rip it all out. If memeory serves me, I think that some years back...

What is this needlework form called? by
BB
Many years ago I received from my grandmother a metal form that I used
to crochet yarn into long strips. I would wrap the yarn around this
ladder like form, each time crocheting the yarn together, wrap around
again, crochet the yarn together, etc. When done, I would take the
yarn off of the form. I...

German translation by
Patricia Rogers
I recently acquired a German redwork sampler, dated 1852, and I am trying to
translate what appears to be a proverb or "wise saying" on one corner. I
have tried several online free translators with no luck. I suspect several
of the words are abbreviated, but I am barely bilingual in...

Yet another happy dance and question by

Since I had stupidly forgotten to get two different sizes of pearl (or is that

of the gadgets that I saw in the printed catalog that came with the order, I
just had to place another one ;-) I overcame my frugality and...

OT - for those who are holiday shopping!!! by
Cheryl Isaak
Who is done? I am surely not, but did major damage to the credit cards
today. DH, DS, DD are done, Mom and Dad are a joint gift with Dsister. All I
need now, is to finish Dsister, DBIL and a few friends, plus aunt and uncle.
I may just go get a gift card to Applebees for them.
