Bittersweet happy dance by
Liz from Humbug
You may remember a few months back that I mentioned a horrible accident
where three 18 year old boys died in a car accident ten days after they
graduated from hight school. Since one of the boys used to come into
the library regularly with his mom & three brothers, I wanted to stitch
something to...

My News - by
Cheryl Isaak
On topic only because of where I worked. I quit - due mostly to some issues
with schedules and lack of notice of changes to said same.
The store manager said this is the first time some one ever gave him notice
of more than a few hours and he's hire me back any day.

What kinds of "Charts To Try"? by
J. Howard Trenouth
This is a separate thread from my "chart to try" thread posted Oct 28.
What kinds of charts/patterns/designs are people wanting to do, but are not
for some reason.
Looking for ideas for future chart designs for either individual charts or
book include.
Reasons such as:
Can't...

Automatic needle threader by
[email protected]
I just received my Lee Valley Tools Christmas catalogue, and there's a
neat little gadget for threading your needle automatically. You can
see it on their website, www.leevalley.com, item # 45K27.05 . The
picture is actually large enough to see the item clearly!

Off Topic - Just when I thought I'd seen everything by
Cheryl Isaak
There was a gentleman in full Scottish attire in Barnes and Noble in Nashua
NH
Kilt, knee socks with the garter, an Aran type sweater and sporran. Didn't
look for a dirk, but would be a weapon and severely frowned on.

Who stitches outside by
Cheryl Isaak
I can stitch on my porch, or in the car with the windows open, but unless it
is completely windless, I can't just stitch out side.
Does any one here stitch outside?

Australian floods - Our Oz posters by
MargW
Anybody know what part of Australia Trish is in? And whether or not she
is affected by the floods (or by the drought further south)?
And for all the rest of our Australian posters as well - good thoughts
and prayers on their way. It sounds like a nightmare.

Your dream project? by
lewmew
We're beginning to falter again here guys! Time to chime in (I expect
this to be busier next week, after the holiday) -
What is the one project you would love to do if you have the time/
skill/money to do?
I love several of the Chatelaine designs and I saw a calla lily in the
past couple of days...

Grandmothers Crewel by
lucretia borgia
I have posted the pic of my pillow on rctnp, it is now finished and
made up.
I would still argue that it would fit in a modern room just as easily
as an antiquey room, my room is more eclectic as I am surrounded by
family pics on the walls and the furniture is plain white. Walls are
the same...

I hate French knots!!!!! GRRRRRRR! by
Dana Compton
Well I would hate french knots if I could figure out how to make one of
the stupid things. I either end up with a plain stitch or a knot way
up the thread somewhere. Can anyone explain this really well or have a
site to help me out?

OK- who "names" the stitches by
Cheryl Isaak
Why is a "French" knot, not an "Italian" knot or a "Belgium" knot?
Ok - I'm over stressed and getting whacky, but inquiring minds want to know?
I see a book in this one! LOL

Whoever mentioned the Dutch oven a couple weeks ago (Ellice?)
I realized that I hadn't made a couple of recipes lately because the
Dutch oven was part of the set of pots that went with the X in the
divorce (gift from his friends, so he got custody). Went out and bought
a new one and have been...

Stitching on a 'Sandwich' by
anne
A woman whose talent and skill I admire almost always does her free style
embroidery on a sandwich -- ground, thin batting, thin fabric backing. I
thought I'd try that but I'm having a big problem -- I have to really, really,
really work to get the needle through all the layers. I'm using no...

Stands by
Allura
I'm seriously considering a new floor stand. The two important
criteria are that it holds q-snaps (up to 17" wide) and that it holds
the frame from both sides. The one I have now (a Gazelle) is nice, but
the larger q-snaps fall to the side; it's very frustrating,
particularly as I only really use...

Stash enhancement question by

I'm in the summer doldrums and was thinking of a little stash
enhancement to make me feel better :) Anyway, I considering the
following:
Long Dog - Plight of Fancy
Long Dog - Rosmarkie
Chatelaine Designs - Pompeji
Anyone done any of these? How hard are they? On the Chatelaine, is
it worth...

Quoting from Needle Arts June 2007 pg 21:
"....you may not stitch multiple pieces from one instruction booklet unless
specifically permitted by the copyright owner"
Is this a true fact?
Are instructions in stitching magazines usually copyrighted?

OT - Mini-Whine on Jobs by
Ellice K.
So, just thought I'd share a small whine. After waiting 3 weeks for the
"formal offer from HR" - once again - no job. The very nice HR chief sent
me an e-mail - essentially saying that their corporate HQ in Germany has
told them to hold off on new hires until after the 1st quarter. But...
