African Wall Hanging - new pix by
Bronnie
Here's the link to my webshots album to check out my latest quilt
"Savannah Sunset".
Original design, I worked out the background and drew the 3 figures
and zebras in EQ6. Hard to see in the pix, but there is a map of
Africa in the background quilting, you can zoom in on it.
It was a really fun...

In Today's News: Terrified Quilting Newbie breaks silence! by
Liz and Steve Ford
Hi Valerie
Welcome to our group, my patchwork errors go on forever and still do but the
earliest memories concern corners that don't meet. That's when I learnt
about buttons - they look homely and hide every sin. So make sure you have a
stash of buttons along with your stash of fabric.

coats and clark thread + high end machines by
Frank & Renee
Hi,
I'm shopping for my first high end machine. I'm leaning toward Husqvarna.
When I was talking to a dealer, she said that once I buy the machine I will
get 40 minutes of instruction on thread and needles alone...for instance
that Coats and Clark thread is not "spun" but pressed together and...

Why can't I finish anything? by
Sunny[_2_]
I am in this weird funk and I can't finish anything. It feels awful.
I've got three projects sitting, ready to be bound (they're little
things, nothing to be excited about) and I can't finish them.
I did make quickie curtains for my bedroom yesterday. Really easy --
just turned hems all around and...

today and Bolivia by
CNY/VAstitcher
Well, I talked with Dad this morning - worried because they didn't call
last night when they reached their friends house in GA. Told him he
didn't need to apologize as there was something more stressful that was
taking our attention. I then proceeded to tell him about the hopeful
trip to...

OT Hurricane Wilma by
Kate T.
Well folks, Polly and I might have to pack up and run again. If the
high over us does not hold we might get hit with another storm. Pray
with us that this thing just falls apart and dies in the Gulf so no one
else get hurt.

Free Applique Shapes by
Kathy in CA
I found this site for free applique shapes. I think you could probably also
use then for quilting motifs. The first item (pagan patterns and designs) is
in pdf format and is 100+ pages--it's like old carvings from Maya, Inca,
Egypt ect. Just thought I'd share in case someone looking for shapes...

OT needing ice cream experts by
Polly Esther
DH is a very good sport about our 'fat-free' diet but ice cream used to be
such a favorite of his. So. Therefore. I am going to invent wonderful ice
cream that doesn't contain egg yolks or fat. The stuff at the grocery
leaves an after-taste much like Mop 'n Glo and I'm sure 'we' can do...

Saundra White - I Done My Best - I Love the Woods by
Linda Wright
When I was in Chicago this summer, I saw, at Stitches n Stuffin, a
model called "I Love the Woods" by I Done My Best. They did not have
the pattern in stock I assume this to be Saundra White, as it looks
like her style, but I cannot find this pattern anywhere! Can anyone
help? I've posted on...

fabric measuring machine (good ol' days) by
Andrea Miller
Does anyone here remember when you would go to buy fabric and the lady would
measure it out by running it through a device attached to the table and a
little meter on the top would spin around and tell you how much fabric
you've run through. Then when you've got correct amount measured out,...

Finally Completed DS Quilt Top by
Bev in TX
I finally completed my DS quilt top. I'm working on a label for it &
then I'll pop it in the mail to my DSIL, who is going to quilt it on
her longarm machine in AZ. Rather than sewing the backing together
here, she is going to buy the fabric & sew it there so that I can save
on shipping costs of...

Another sewing machine to buy by
John
As if I wasn't full up on sewing machines. Along comes Babylock with
their new Sashiko sewing machine. It is a single purpose machine to
replicate the Sashiko stitch on traditional Japanese quilts. I so want
one of these things. I know that it is an "unnecessary" purchase, and
I don't know what...

New Home My Excel 15S lost manual by
Kelley Greene
Hi folks, after 25 years the manual disappeared this week and we cannot find
it anywhere. I about tore the place apart last night. It apparently sprouted
legs and ran off.
Looking online I found places that advertised the manual but when you get to
the site they don't have it. This is so...

Please do forgive me for my Cranky Pants Polly howling. I don't know if the
rules have changed or if I just never understood them in the first place.
Today we received an announcement from a university that a
great-grandchild was receiving her degree. Wonderful.
It was addressed to "...

"biggie" quilt shows...do you enter? by
Ann
It seems to me that Paducah is one of the biggie quilt show
Does anyone here enter their quilt? And get selected or not?
Does a chosen quilt have to be absolutely perfect to be picked for the show?
(in construction and quilting)?
I presume the competiton is fierce for getting a quilt...

Handquilting question by
Mika
Well I finally got my 30+ year old quilt top on the quilt frame to give
handquilting a try. When I was in Vegas last month I found some straw
needles at Sandy's fabulous LQS, Quiltique. So now I'm ready to begin
quilting. In fact I tried a few stitches last night after we finished
tightening the...

My turn to look for fabric by
Trish Brown
I've been trying for a while now to find some orange and black striped
stretch fabric. I'd prefer smaller stripes (say, 1/2" or smaller), but
at this point I'd be happy with anything! I only want a yard or so -
hoping to make onesies for two new babies in the family - but d'you
think anyone out...
