Been a quilting weekend and a bit of a disaster and why women juggle! by
Janner
Just had to share, from Friday evening until Saturday evening DD#1 (nearly
9) managed to sew all of her blocks (4-patch) and start to sew them in to
rows. I have made a similar top for DD#2 (5yrs), which is my 1st attempt at
machine piecing anything on this scale. We've had lovely fun. We...

Squishie Thanks by
kjbs
Thank you for the wonderful squishie and thunkie (they
melted a bit, but still tasted good!). Your note was very
nice too! I have my finals this week (Tue, Wed, Thurs) and I
am managing to handle my stress. I DID dump the statistics
class--will retake it in the Summer. I appreciate...

Dallas Quilt Show by
David & Barbara Schmidt
anyone coming to/going to the Dallas Quilt Show? It's this weekend at
Dallas Market Hall. I am planning to be there Friday when it opens at 10
and will probably be there all day.
It's my hubby's 40th birthday weekend, so I won't be able to go any
other day. Was hoping for a meet up if anyone was...

OT-Life by

LIFE is not a journey to the grave

in a pretty and well preserved body,
BUT rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up,
totally worn out,

Raggy edge applique? by
Johanna Gibson
I want to do some ragged-edge applique with flannel... should I wash
the flannel and then do the applique, and snip the edges, then wash
again? Or should I do the applique before the fabric is washed?
Won't that make the fabric crinkle and shrink quite a bit?
Help! I want to start on this...

Update on freezer paper by
Mosiacquilter
DH now involved ! The waxed sandwich paper roll ( Edsol) did not work at
all -not even a trace of it stuck to the fabric, ditto the backing paper for
computer label sheets and the blue paper inside Blu-tack packets. We even
tried rolling a candle over plain paper- no good.
The packaging of...

ISO Needle Book Pattern off topic? by
Diana Curtis
I suppose some people use needle books while hand quilting, so perhaps this
request isnt off topic entirely. I need to make one, but havent ever seen
one in real life. Can someone tell me how one is made? Is there a simple
pattern online somewhere? Exactly what is their function?
I decided to do...

Press and Seal? by
-- Jo in Scotland
With all the fuss being made over Press and Seal, I wonder if someone
in the US would be willing to post some to a quilty mate of mine in
Australia? She's quite keen to try it and I have had no luck
unearthing it here in the UK. No doubt we will have it in another 6
months or so. This woman has...

guild retreats? by
Sharon Gates
Our guild is hoping to plan a retreat. We are a fairly new group and have
no experience putting this together. We don't want anything too rugged :-)
Any suggestions on how to put this together?
TIA

Janner
I am here using Dylon in the washing machine, dyeing some calico (muslin?
USA). We've tied it, in the hope it will look tie-dyed. when the machine
hs finished I have to wash it again, do I remove the string tying it then or
afterwards? I still have over an hour to go anyway!

Long, don't try this by
Polly Esther
I have been looking on ebay for a while at cotton quilt tops. One called to
me, a GMFG, feedsack prints, easy price, hand pieced. You might want to
keep in mind here that I'm the one who adopts the Christmas tree that is
warped, wobbledly and has a serious big hole about halfway down. I just...

Look what I found by
Polly Esther
Someone in my serger group mentioned this site recently and I thought you
might want to take a look. It is for buying or selling a used sewing machine
or serger and related good stuff. For all I know, they might all have been
horse thieves in another life but it looks very interesting. Look...

Resolution for press 'n seal users-this is long by
jennell H
I received a package of this product last week and yesterday I began
testing various marking combinations:
press 'n seal with pigma micron .0l red - some colour transfer which did
wash out (white poly fabric/batt/thread) - lazy daisy design with tight
crossovers of stitches..
---with pigma micron...

Boder Ideas for a Jewel Box by
Penny S
I've been looking on the web for ideas, and haven't seen much to begin with,
and certainly nothing to get excited over.
Does anyone have a favorite, or an idea or a url/pic they might like to
share? The finished quilt will be queen size, and the colors are bright
jewel/rainbow scrappy tones on a...

Pasco County Florida Shop Hop report by
SusanTorrens
DH was my chauffeur yesterday. We left home at 8:30 am and arrived back at
3pm. We drove 115 miles, visited 7 quilt shops, brought home 7 block kits, 5
fat quarters, 1 pattern, and 8 1/4 yard of fabric. (I would have picked up
more, but we are heading back home soon, and the car is already...

Thanks Julie ( from Richmond by
Kris
Julie,
An arrival came in the mail and I couldn't find your private e-mail
address ( I'm still in the middle of switching fron aol to comcast).
I loved that fabric when I saw you with it in Williamsburg. It will
have to try using it in a special memorial quilt that I'm working on.
Thanks...

OT Irish Cream recipe by
Ginger in CA
It's that time of year. Actually, my DMIL-to-be feels there doesn't
have to be a big day like St. Patrick's Day to make this ;)) At 92
active years old, she has what the family refers to as "a tremendous
thirst"!
Made this last night and wanted to share with everyone:
Ingredients
3 large eggs

Featherweight: bobbin jumping by
Nbhilyard
I had occasion to use Betty Featherweight while Pfrieda Pfaff was in the shop
for a tuneup. Betty stitches very well for a 69-year-old but on occasion the
bobbin thread jumped out of the groove. It was easy to correct, but I had to
keep doing it. The stitch tension (top and bottom) was fine...

Another use for fabric scraps by
jennell H
It is that time of year when the small creatures are looking for nesting
materials. I have been keeping smaller scraps of batting and
flannelette for the last several months to leave near the ravine. The
last pieces that I put out disappeared almost immediately - it was fun
to watch the squirrels...
