bits and pieces-- catching up some by
Pati, in Phx
Okay, let's see.....
For some reason I couldn't post a reply or new message for a while and
I really wanted to reply to a few things. G
Welcome to the newcomers, glad to see every one else. (I could 'see'
all along, just couldn't say anything.)
Hope the upcoming surgery/surgeries go well for all...

Steven, I would be absolutely furious, too, if I were you. Guess it's a
good thing you won't meet this guy, we don't want you strung up for murder
and mayhem!

piecing on cruise suggestions? by
Mary
I have booked a 24 day cruise for next March, and am looking for
suggestions for blocks to stitch during quiet afternoons on board. I
would like to take some whole-cloth work, but that takes up far too
much room in a suitcase -- I am going carry-on only as I did for 27
days earlier this year. So...

OT The Weather Channel by
NightMist
I checked my email today and what to my wondering eyes did appear? but a
bunch of panicked notes inquiring after our well being and asking how we
were managing the flooding.
I was completely baffled.
Come to find out that Jamestown was featured on the weather channel
yesterday. They made much...

I'm not in the mood.... by
Kate in MI
to sew? Summer doldrums? I don't know but I suspect it is because I have
let my sewing area creep into a total state of disarray. So I need to clean
it up (and find some missing parts of projects) and get it re-organized.
But I'm having trouble getting beyond the inertia.
So how do you get...

We're not just talking child labor here - we're talking HUMAN
TRAFFICKING i.e.SLAVERY.
How's that chocolate taste now?

OT fire extinguishers? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
In the dozen years since we've been in the Swamp, there have been 3 home
fires. This area is so remote that all the fire department can do mostly is
bring sympathy cards.
Back when I was gainfully employed we used to have fire drills and
(better yet) lessons from the fire guys to teach us...

JUST FURIOUS! by
Steven Cook
And he's back. Just saw a note on Facebook. Of course no answer to the
phone call. Heaven forbid that children talk with their parents, but he's
home, we're happy, and we can now wait for the next thing to worry about.
Hopefully a lot tamer than this one.
Steven, resting...

The completed surrey top that I made has now reached my brother, and is

quilting is once again in my future!! by
off kilter [email protected]
Yay!! It's actually been a while since I made a quilt of any kind.
However, as I'm finishing up projects, I'm also getting ready to get
to work on an Areil quilt for the daughter of a friend. I have the
first blocks cut out, but they have been sitting on the design wall
for about a year. I think...

Shibori by
Julia in MN[_5_]
A friend and I tried some shibori yesterday, using bleach to discharge
the dye in the fabric. We had lots of fun trying different ways to tie
the fabric and seeing how the bleach changed the color of the fabric. I
had mostly black fabric, which turned a lovely brown when bleached.

Quilt labels (again?) by
Sartorresartus
OK, I admit it, I don't label my quilts.
I know I should. I think I would like to.
But
My quilts are usually reversible, so if I put a label on the 'back'
when you turn it over it will show. Yes, I know I could always
embroider something in the margin, but that isn't always practical,
either.
