short break from quilting by
Mary
After plunging ahead in quilting nonstop for a VERY long time, I have
decided to set it aside for a bit to knit a pair of socks for myself.
I have some absolutely marvelous 100% alpaca yarn . . . and winter is
coming. So -- why not? I'm using size 1 needles, and have 2 sets, so
I have begun both...

Sewing machine is mad at me. by
GrammyKathy[_3_]
I have a Brother sewing machine. When I put her up several months ago
she worked just fine. Now the top thread breaks if I tug on it.. It
is threaded correctly and is loose when I pull it by hand, but tight
when I sew. Changeing the stitch length and
tension doesn't help either. Any suggestions?

Couple of questions!! by
Cindy from GA but wants to me in MO
Since getting a new computer, I've lost all my bookmarks.
Question #1 - How difficult would it be to turn an ordinary table into
a sewing cabinet so that the machine sits level with table? Info on
how done, websites, directions?
Question #2 - First I will admit up front that I hate math and I...

Smooth chain-piecing by
Polly Esther[_5_]
How did I come to this? ( me with the 9 block maximum mentality). A
Hunter's Star quilt has taken over my sewing room and heart. It will be
glorious gorgeous. However. Somehow. There are 392 HSTs to survive.
Now and again, the SM needle would stuff the leading corners of the HST
and...

More Table Runner ideas by
Alice in PA[_3_]
Technically, this is not a quilt project, as it doesn't have any batting.
It is, however, a very easy pattern for a quick table runner! Took me about
an hour to make this. Shown in the last two photos in my Sewing Projects
album in Webshots.

Remember back in Jr Hi (or was it the 3rd grade?) when someone wasn't
speaking to someone? Well. My computer isn't speaking to yours. I notice
that Ginger and Bev are replying to what you're saying and, fortunately,
copying your words. Other than that, they're not coming in here.

Do One For The "Gipper". by
John
Or should I say, do one for me. After making all of the bags for
various entities, who shall remain nameless, (you know who you are,
Lois), I decided that I would like to do one for just myself,
incorporating just the features that I liked from all of the bags I
have done. I wanted a Book/Messenger...

Happy Dance by
Hanne[_2_]
Yesterday (nothing like being in good time!) I finished my first quilt
in ages.
It was a baby quilt for the 3rd child of some very good friends of
mine from college. The baby was Christened today (good job I got it
finished yesterday, then).
Well, the parents were so overjoyed at this "their" 3rd...

Happy Dance of a sort... by
Jo Gibson[_2_]
My sewing machine is back home! The needle has been gradually drifting
to the left since I got it back in 2002 (I think). Recently it started
to hit my 1/4 inch patchwork foot. Sewing literally ground to a halt.
Mark took it in to our favourite repairman the day before we went on
holiday but...

The Bucket List by
Sherry
My surgery date is creeping up on me -- November 1. For some reason I
am obsessed with
finishing quilts. I finished one today using my aunt's Handiquilter
and have one more to go.
Is this crazy or what? Of the hundreds of things I *should* be doing,
or worrying about, I'm
stuck on finishing quilts...

Two color binding??? by
Leslie& The Furbabies in MO.
I am making an oversized king size quilt that needs to be reversible. The
front of the quilt needs navy binding and the backing side (a busy print
which will appear to be a whole cloth when used with this side up) needs
brown binding. I cannot find any fabric that will go well with both sides...

Needing drawstring help by
Polly Esther[_5_]
The days when we could search for a green-eyed 18" doll or Lego's that were
all purple have long gone. Mostly, we give our children and grands cash. I
had the brilliant plan to embroider their names on little drawstring bags to
hold the money and use gold cords for the drawstrings - both to...
