losing my sewing room by
Lisa
whaaaa!
I went from having a whole bedroom to the laundry room and now in a
few weeks we will move to a house with an even smaller laundry room.
(That's what happens when you have kids--they get the bedrooms!)
Anyway, my question is how to organize my stuff so that I can still
sew. I was thinking...

Lining a lampshade by
Judy s
I have a cool lamp with a shade that needs the lining replaced. The old one
dried up and disintegrated near the narrower top part of the shade where it
was closer to the bulb.. What type of fabric is used for this? Does it need
to be heat resistant? I am now using those new cooler burning "curly"...

Christoph Brudy
I'm considering getting a coverstitch machine.
Can anyone comment on the relative merits (or deficiencies)
of the machines mentioned in the subject line?
TIA, Chris

Snap tape by
Karen Maslowski
Cynthia, I also like this kind of tape, and was mystified by so many
saying not to use it. It's gentler to baby skin, IMO.

"Sew What's New" TV series in 80's by
William S.
I can vaguely remember a TV series broadcast on TLC
called "Sew, What's New". It featured a rather
distinguished male host who was funny at times and
demonstrated sewing technique.
Can anyone tell me who the host was and if the show
is available on tape or dvd or still being broadcast?
He was...

project ideas by
Joan
I inherited several books of drapery and upholstery samples. These
are expensive fabrics. The harvested swatches range from small -- 4
to 5 inches to about 12 to 14 inches.
I'm looking for ideas to make up something useful.
Most of the prints are large so inappropriate for infants or...

Anyone heard of a string bag? by
Trish Brown
Does anyone remember the dear old string bag their Nanna used to take to
the shops? Our supermarket is selling cheap canvas shopping bags in the
hope of replacing the disposable plastic ones, but I thought I'd rather
make a couple of the old fashioned string bags, which expanded
beautifully to...

Sewing on a hook and loop with glue - problem by
Odin Roll-Hansen
I bought a hook and loop with glue. The glue is there to make it
easier to place the hook and loop correctly on the fabric until the
sewing is done.
Smart, but the problem is that the needle of the sewing machine
collects glue, until finally the hole in the needle gets so filled up
with glue that...

Cerex brand interfacing by
Missy
I have been trying for three days to find some information about
this. I've Googled, Google Grouped, and Froogled. Other than
Monsanto (apparently the registered trademark of Cerex), which I also
searched, zip is what I get.
There is an auction on eBay I'm interested in. It is for 18" x...

Labels by
Mermer30
I just started a small company and we need to purchase fabric labels
with our company name on them. We need a 3 color imprint. We are
having trouble finding a company that will print labels for us for
under 250 pieces and using our colors and not the standard couple
options.
Would LOVE some...

Hello all. Brand new poster here, and almost brand new to sewing,
except for high school home ec which was a little while ago :) I just
made a pair of one-piece PJ's for a friend of mine, and they are too
short-waisted for him so they ride in uncomfortable places... what is
the easiest way to fix...

Tape for keeping skirts and pants from slipping down? by
Martin
They used to have a tape that had a rubber stitched face which was sewed or
glued to the inside waistband of skirts and pants to keep them from slipping
down. It was not the kind of elastic tape that stretches.
Would anyone know what that tape was called and where I could get some,
perhaps...

one or knows where I might be able to find one, it would be much
appreciated. My girlfriend's plate is pretty chewed up and the constant
