Spray Gun Recommendation - UK by
Jack Ouzzi
Anyone recommend a reasonable spray gun for use with glazes and other
thickish materials. There seems such a vast array of nozzle sizes /
tips etc etc that it's truly baffling. Not for huge industrial use,
just occasional studio pottery use in the UK.
Thanks

Horse hair by
J.R.Lawson
I was just in North Carolina and came across some "horse hair" pots. They
were in white, blue and green with black veins. My question is, how were
these done and what does horse hair have to do with it?

Oxide question by
J.R.Lawson
Using various (cone 04-6) clays and clear gloss glaze. Am trying to add
color with different oxides. Example is 50% red copper oxide and 50% ball
clay. Am hoping to get a nice run with the color. So far it's not running.
Have a thought by adding borax would help. Am I on the right track or...

Enamels on stoneware by
J M
Hi all smee posting again,
I have considered about personalising dog/cat bowls; and rather make clients
wait for me to make a bowl from scratch - I thought of glazing a blank and
using enamels to personalise it.
So, I bought some powder on-glaze enamels for refire to 750C and, using the
medium...

Salt experiment by
J M
Having an electric kiln I don't want to kill it by salt glazing - so I've
never tried it. However, this may sound silly, but I have heard of rice,
sawdust and other items being put into the clay - and was wondering what
effect you would get in the glaze by mixing salt into the clay...

Red effect glazes in an electric kiln by

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to obtain reds and/or bright colours in
the glazes when fired in an electric kiln?
I understand that you need a reduced environment for these, but is it
possible during an oxidised firing?
I'm new to experimenting in mixing my own glazes, and at the moment,...
