META: Number of messages on rctn. by F.James Cripwell
At this time of year, I update my message count. My ISP started numbering messages at 1 when rctn started, and just keeps going. To date the number is around 630,500. So all I do is note the approximate message count at this time of year, and do a simple subtraction. Herewith the message counts...

Kreinik Silk Mori question by Anne Tuchscherer
I have just gotten the Kreinik Silk Mori I ordered to finish a XS/hardanger piece I am stitching. The silk mori says in big bold letters to "dry clean only". Is this true? I can't imagine not being able to wash my stitching after I am done with it. I could wash what I have done now but there is...

Someone was inquiring about dates for the Twin Cities annual Heart of the Cities Cross Stitch Tour. I said I would check and get back with the info. Well, I guess it's official that there will be no shop hop this year for the Twin Cities. I thought as much as there are only 4 shops left which...

no back/partial stitched patterns? by Erika Schmidt
Hello all, I last looked at this newsgroup over six years ago, but seem to recall discussion of a company that designed incredibly complicated XS patterns that used no back- or partial stitches. As I remember, the patterns alone were fairly pricey, but my salary has gone up, so... Does anyone...

Big finish! by Sara
I have finally finished Chatelaine's Pompeji Mandala. It took over a week just to bead the thing, and boy was I glad I used 28 ct. fabric! And I'm glad a size 28 tapestry needle works for the Delicas, or my poor fingers would have been hamburger. In case anyone wants to see it, it's at...

Domain Names - Small Needlework Shops by Dianne Lewandowski
I wanted to warn some of you small business owners who have on-line shops. The following was posted to my forum this morning. This will probably affect her business, since some advertising in older magazines will still contain the "old" name. Message follows: I just got a phone call from a...

Your Word for the Day 1/19 by Karen C - California
fabulist (n.) -- an elegant euphemism for "liar" Sentence: Isn't it fabulous, how many fabulists enter politics? Similar: fantabulation Sentence: In more than one of the lawsuits I handled, the doctors determined that the only problem the victim had was with fantabulation.

And they're trying to SELL this stuff? by val189
I wandered through a pricey gift shop and spied two throw pillows with needlepoint centers. Picking them up for a closer look, I saw not one or two but many glaring omissions of not just a stitch, but whole areas of five and six stitches missing - the canvas was rather apparent. Who is doing this...

The New "CS&N", formerly "Stitcher's World" by Skyhooks
Hm.... I received my new "Cross Stitch and Needlework" magazine (March 2006), formerly Stitcher's World. Can't say that I'm all that impressed with this issue. Most of the patterns seem quite simple to me, with nothing rated* more than a "3" for stitching ability. But, I still look forward to...
