How can they DO that! by
Bob Masta
There's a small mall near me (in Ann Arbor, Michigan) that has a store
catering to the local Chinese population. Last week dozens of giant
pots (4 feet tall or more) appeared in the hallway outside the store.
I looked at the prices on some of the pieces that appealed to me, such
as a chest-high...

Kiln God? by
Bubbles/Marianne
Hey everyone :-)
I want to make myself a kiln god. From the very limited information my
searches came up with, I read that the Japanese believe you must sacrifice
something to the kiln god in each firing. My idea is then to purposely make
a big air pocket in a little sculpture, and then fire it...

Clay and consequences by

Hello everybody
I could do with your advice and opinion on something personal that's
happening with me that relates to this group. Last October I was
diagnosed with mild emphysema/COPD. I used to smoke a very little bit
in my twenties (I'm now 61). I was also brought up in a smoking...

Semi-OT:
Potters who are also mystery lovers may enjoy "Uncommon Clay" by
Margaret Maron, a mystery involving Judge Deborah Knott and a family
of North Carolina potters that seems to be marked for death.
The pottery aspects are presented fairly well, and the plot is pretty
good. However, the...

- IMG_0017.jpg (0/1) Help identifying a bowl I just Inherited??? by
A-Regular-Joe
Hi,
I attched an image of a bowl My wife and I just inherited form a family
member. I supposedly came into the family in the 1960's.
The bowl bears no markings of any kind. There is a good amount of wear
to the gold parts.
Its probably Asian?

Single firing Done! by
DKat
Well I unloaded the kiln and was amazed how many pots came out with such few
flaws. One poor little pot was glazed and reglazed so many times that I was
never planning on firing it, just playing with techique. It got stuck in
just on principle and came out one of the better pots. The pots...
