Advice required on gold hallmarks by
Rob Overfield
I need a bit of advice on a gold ring (assuming its gold) that I want to
sell and the hallmarks stamped on it. None of the jewellers I've visited
recognise them, but as I know it was probably bought in New York by an
ex-girlfriend, I was wondering if that might be where it came from. Does
anyone...

Sphere types - not quite uniform by
Michael
I want to make a sphere type shape out of gold, but with a little=20
difference.
I could take a bit of wire, melt the ed and have a sphere. If I increased=
=20
the amount of matrial, I expect the sphere would start to flatten out =
under=20
it's own weight and gravity. So from the side it would...

How To Paint/Colour Metals for jewellery? by
ragdollbaby
I painted some "snap" hair clips with Humbrol Enamel & thought that
would be quite durable until I saw that my cat had gotten to one & put
teeth marks thru to the metal! Would this sort of paint be ok to paint
(minus cat attacks) pendants, etc (made from eg. base metal, pewter,
brass). Or is there...

Colouring Silver by
Druze
I am looking for ways of colouring fine indented lines in silver, NOT
involving enamelling. I have tried permanent ink which produces lovely
tranluscent colours but is not very hard wearing. I have heard that
colours other than black are possible to acheive with 'oxidisation'.
Any...

Well, I've closed my shop, mainly because it wasn't that interesting to=

and I also got sick half to death of soldering charms onto bracelets and
mending 9ct gold chains people had somehow managed to break.
Now I'm building a workshop in my spare room.
I normally use a propane/oxy torch and...
