Using Up Scraps--Hah! by Joan
So, I had this really big pile of scraps, and the pile was divided into more piles, and those piles had children, and those piles of scraps had grandchildren, so I had to do something or my house would explode. Why not use some of the scraps in a quilt, I thought. Maybe with some paper piecing....

New twist on Puzzle quilt by Susan Laity Price
I saw a cute puzzle quilt yesterday. The gal had followed the pattern but made one of the center pieces black so it looked like a piece was missing. I thought it would look even cuter if you took a part of a colored block and appliqued it onto the border to look like it was the missing piece...

Special Needles for Singer Featherweight? by Beth Pierce
I'm taking the big step to become more of a SMA (sewing machine addict). I am now interested in a Featherweight, Model 221. Forgive me if I appear to be "out to lunch" but I thought I saw somewhere (like Ebay) that I had to use special needles for this machine. Is this true? I haven't seen any...

quilting *after* binding? by [email protected]
I made a small (45x60) quilt in a workshop a couple of months ago. She had us "utility" quilt it only -- just enough to stabilize, diagonally through the chains, about 6" apart. I used 100% cotton batt. Without giving it any thought, I just bound it and put it on the couch for snuggles. But ... now...

Quilter needed by Heather
Here's the scoop. My oldest daughter is now 14. Back in 2000, I helped her do a y2k swap. We collected thousands of fabric squares, and this last year I helped her make them into a quilt. Basically, she just made a crazy quilt with the squares, by using a foundation and just laying the fabric...
