Book recommenations by
ALZ
Two books I'm considering:
Batiks and Beyond - Laurie J. Shiffrin -- I haven't done much with
batiks, but I just bought 6 yarda and need some inspirations
Quick Strip Paper piecing - Peggy Martin -- Don't know anything about
this book but did the flip-through on Amazon and the patterns...

Online store - good report by
frood
I ordered fabric from 2 different stores online last Sunday evening. One, as
I've said in a different post, did not perform well. However, the other
store had my fabric to me by Wednesday afternoon, and even included a cute
little pack of tissues with a quilt design on the wrapper!
I'd never...

back for a while! by
CNYstitcher
Well, we left wednesday afternoon, after a rather long (read: boring)
ceremony for DS moving out of the preschool program. They sang 2 songs,
walked over a little bridge, had punch and cake, and that was it....1
hour of not enough space and too many people. We got on the road around
2:30pm, and...

OT... whew by
maryd
After being a SAHM and SAHGM for many years, I'm finding it very tiring to
be in the working world again. Especially a job that is physically
demanding. But I'm hanging in there and keeping up with the more
experienced and younger gals. And I am reading the messages here even if I
don't respond...

OT - Stand up! by
Johanna Gibson
This whole business of standing up for yourself gets easier the more
you practice it. How nice.
I walked 2 miles to Sasha's vet today to pick up cat food and flea
treatment I ordered last week . Only, the receptionist informed me
that I couldn't have the flea treatment without a consultation...

New Joy Toy on its way by
ALZ
Gotta new toy, toys actually, coming. I bought a New Joy frame with a
Babylock QCP on the way. I bought it from someone on New Joy list.
Now, mind you, I don't need it, but I am working Summer School and
figured I deserved it. The person was selling the whole set up and I
went for it even though I...

Marking Sprays by
Mary in Washington
I have seen the sprays advertised but have not tried them yet. Since I
began free motion quilting I have used cinnamon for light fabrics and
corn starch for dark. They are tied up in an old sock and I just rub
them across the sencil. To keep them from rubbing off so fast I use a
light spray of...

Hearts & Flowers Quilt found a new home by
SNIGDIBBLY
I got a letter from Father Mike yesterday. Seems the sound system
contractors cheated the church out of a lot of money and left the sound
system in our new church undone. The church needs $68K to complete the
sound systems so people can hear mass. I have donated my Hearts and Flowers
quilt to be...

OT - update on missing son by
Marlys in Indiana
Sorry to report that he still has not been found. Several people think they
MIGHT have seen him along I-15 between Victorville and Barstow. If he is
the man that they have seen, it would appear that he has been affected
by being in the elements and he is totally disoriented and is in need...

Getting Rid of the Blues I (photo link) by
the black rose
http://community.webshots.com/photo/143983013/377962714elyDGd
It's actually a double Irish chain, but there isn't a whole lot of
contrast between the two blues. I found a yard of purple in my stash
that went nicely with both; it's the center chain.

OK. As some of you know by now, the directory went out the other day,
sometimes 2x. LOL But, if you think you should be in and didn't receive your
copy, please email ME and I'll check it out. I'm not going to go by what
people post here. I want an email so I know I have looked into...

Florida Members! by
Debi Matlack
I have discovered by rooting through my new directory copy, that some of the
Florida members are practically neighbors! I'm in Starke and work in
Gainesville. At least two others are close to me and, unless I'm mistaken, a
couple more are pretty darn close. If anyone every wants to do meet-up,...

Using Tulle to Mark Quilting Pattern by
Judie in Penfield NY
I've used tulle to mark quilting patterns. I traced the pattern onto the
netting with a Sharpie (first covering the pattern with Press N Seal so I
wouldn't destroy the pattern) and then washed and dried the netting to
remove any excess ink. You can then trace the pattern right through the
netting...

I forgot to tell you! by
AliceW
They are so sweet! I love the colors too. I thought I would start saving
FQ for an I Spy quilt for my GS and now I need to make another. So I
thought I would look for appropriate FQ during the NJ Shop Hop. I only
found two! Where do you find the fabrics for these? I thought FQ would
work best...

Back posting again.... by
AliceW
Welcome back, Bonnie! I know about life happening. My quilting activities
have been severely decreased for a year now, but the trade off was worth it
since it meant getting a new grand baby! But, I'm glad you can post a bit.
I will keep your son in my prayers and hope for better days...

A new Orleans Quilt Show? by
Patti
A quilting friend of mine will be travelling in the US for about three
months this autumn/fall. She was told that there might be a quilt show
in New Orleans in October. If this is the case, she would very much
like to visit there. I found, from Google, that there is a show every
other year - but...
