Sewing machine for canvas? by Jeffrey P. Vasquez
Greetings all, I would be infinitely appreciative of a recommendation for a consumer sewing machine able to sew canvas. I am just looking to use it for boat canvas repair and the odd cover now and then and am not looking to put heavy hours on it. Many thanks for you help! -jeffrey

Frog costume by Jen
I need instructions or a pattern to make a frog costume for my daughters school play. I'm a good sewer, so there's no problem there, I just don't have the imagination. Does anyone have any patterns?

Advice on color coordination by Jennifer
Hello, I just moved in with my boyfriend who has a beautiful antique couch/ chair set. The upholstery is is a dark, forest green. The wood on the furntiure is very dark brown. Our walls are creme colored, and want to make pillows that will liven up the room. Any suggestions on what may work?

Sewing For Dummies by Jerry Ingerski
Please tell me if there is a machine to do just plain straight stiches for doing dungarees and pants and adding patches. I am a "single Dad" with growing kids who need hemming all the time. My own jeans too. I have an old Singer machine but it does not seem strong enough to go through the tough...

charity projects by jes
My 8 yr. old granddaughter is beginning sewing. A couple of good projects for her: 1. Pet blankets for the SPCA to give to animals. They get to keep the blanket & take it to their new home, if adopted. 2. Dress stuffed animals for the highway patrol or police to give to distressed children. As...

Good use for oddball fabric scraps by jes
I picked up this idea at a SPCA web site. Volunteers make sleeping pads for the animals. Some animals are given their pad when they leave the shelter. It's comforting to have something with its own scent. They should be washable, durable and survive strong disinfecting. They asked for 3...

American Girl Patterns by Jessica V.
My now 10 y/o DD loves American Girl dolls. I know that Pleasant Company once made patterns for doll clothes. Does anyone know if they ever made patterns for girls clothes? I think I'd seen patterns for girls clothing in the late 80s or early 90s catologs, but maybe I'm just thinking I did. ...
