I have been trying to find information about the (presumably European) "E" marks which are found on safety (laminated?, tempered?) glass used in vehicles. Some have E17, some E5 etc. I haven't been able to find a table explaining the differences, anyone know? (I hope that I haven't deviated...

"Frosted"glass by Matthew Eash
I am trying to find (or create) a 48 high x 24 wide panel of "frosted" glass for a door. Since it is in a door, tempered glass or other shatter resistant glass should be used. Most stores recommend sandblasting the glass to give a very even texture. A 3/16 tempered sandblasted sheet is about $80...

"Students see the light in glass art" by Mike
Students see the light in glass art Life: The age-old art of stained glass, which probably originated more than 2,000 years ago, is still being enjoyed. What makes the art form particularly unusual is its dependence on light. at http://www.washtimes.com/metro/20030907-105743-6214r.htm

'Serious' soldering iron - recommendations please ? by Adrian
HI Folks My usual weapon of choice is a temperature-controlled Weller 100W iron - which works very well for tiffany-style suncatchers, tealights and so on. Recently, I've been getting more commissions for copper-foil-based window / door panels - with correspondingly longer seams to be...

0.25" thick plate glass by Agkistrodon
I'm trying to cut a 75" long, 45" wide sheet of 0.25" plate glass to fit a frame 33"x67" for a map. I don't want to even start without some advice. What's a good way? Will a regular glass cutter wheel score deep enough? Thanks for the input. Agkistrodon

120 Year old Glass by Cape Bretoner
Am wondering if anyone can direct me to a collector or antique dealer that might be interested in purchasing 120 year old planes of glass. They are 8 X 10 inches and about 1/16 of an inch thick. Clear glass, although they had some kind of shipping material between them that gives it a colored...

18th century reference to "Diamond tens glass" by Jim Chevallier
Anyone with an interest in antique glass know what "diamond tens glass" would have referred to in the 18th century? "TO BE SOLD, BY Capt.Gideon Ball, at his House near the Orange Tree Tavern, Diamond tens Glass, Nuns Threads, Fans, Crates of Vials, and sundry other European Goods."

1st side distorts (flattens) when 2nd side is soldered by [email protected]
When soldering the 2nd side of a foiled stained glass piece, it appears that the nice rounded solder bead on the 1st side gets distorted (flattened) because it is heated from the heat of soldering the 2nd side and the 1st side is resting on a flat surface. How can this be avoided?
