pun alert by
Cheryl Isaak
Researchers for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority found over 200 dead
crows near Boston recently, and there was concern that they may have
died from Avian Flu.
They had a Bird Pathologist examine the remains of all the crows, and,
to everyone's relief, he confirmed the problem was...

When you can't sleep, hook! by
Karen C
Since I wasn't sleeping, I grabbed my new bag of yarn. I have one
completed fascinator (dangly things were crocheted on), two fascinators
where the crocheted base is complete but the wires for deelybobbers need
to be attached, a completed water bottle cozy, and one that still needs
a few more...

Brief intro and searching for The Bird Perch X-stitch pattern by
Danny Breidenbach
Hi all,
I used to frequent the rec.arts.textiles.needlework USENET group in the bad old days of the late 90s. Learned a lot. Improved my skills a lot. Lived in Northern Virginia at the time. Now I'm in Kansas. I'm one of those relatively rare male stitchers. I'm not too proud to stitch on an...

need help on making a pillow for my finished needlepoint by
[email protected]
Does anyone know of a youtube vid showing how to finish a pillow with ndlpt as a top? It doesn't' have to be fancy, but it would be nice to make it with an opening in the back for removal of the pillow form.
I used to go to a great interior dec shop where they'd do a nice professional job, but...

New finish - EGA Master Craftsman Canvas #5 by
Fran
Received a pass first time out on test #5 for the Canvas Embroidery
Master cert! It is a completely original design of carnival masks
hanging on a wall. The photo doesn't do it justice at all. I
completely stitched the background first, then appliqued the two front
masks onto it as I wanted them...

Stitch? and other XS Pattern-Making by
cara1158
Is Stitch still in existence? I just tried to download it (from http://people.dsv.su.se/~henrikbe/stitch/) but it did not install. In fact, no installation or .exe files seem to be there at all.
Are there any other cross stitch pattern-making programs that you all recommend? I have not done any...

Don't mess with knitters! by
Bruce Fletcher
Old news (Jun 2012) but still worth reading.
"Millions of knitting enthusiasts are furious at the U.S. Olympic
Committee over a cease and desist letter, and the organization’s two
attempts at an apology have only worsened the situation."

Great tapestry of Scotland by

Nine months to sew one panel.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veZ461c1xBQ
One panel came to Orkney and I was permitted to put in a couple of
stitches (under VERY close supervision!). You can see a brief account of
this with a few photographs, including one of yours truly, in the

Latest finish by

I finished Furry friends, , a Dimensions kit, earlier this month. I had
taken my 2yo DGD to Nordic Needle and this is what she picked out. She
knew it was to be for her 3rd birthday. The girls at Michael's picked
out the outer matting...fur-textured! It really added to the picture.

label removal update - by
Cheryl Isaak
well - a combination of things is working - the duct tape thing didn't
work, but I ended up scoring the label and I resprayed with goo-gone
and left it in the sun.
Lo and behold - lifting along the score line. It worked! I've kept at it
now and I'd down to the last little bits. Not too worried...

'Tis the annual posting..... by

Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was
manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars
of the condiment scheduled for delivery on May 5th in Vera Cruz, Mexico,
which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop
in New...
