Bob Common
My wife is working on a line of watch bracelets using beads, two strand
toggles and .018 Beadalon wire. She does the designing and beading and I do
the finishing, eg. attaching the toggles with crimp tubes and putting on the
crimp covers. Most of the time, things go fine, but every now and...

Silver supplier question by
Paul K. Dickman
I have a question that the group may be able to answer.
I am currently pricing a commission for a fairly complex set of Shabbat
candlesticks. It is still in the design by committee stage, but it involves
hammered silver reflectors.
Originally the reflectors were a series of curved plates...

Hi,
I bought a ring stretcher from eBay and it came without any

out. (We didn't do this in the jewelry-making class I took in '91)
If anyone would be so kind and generous with his/her time as to take
a look at the page and tell...

sealing an oxidized silver ring by
horatioB
I am oxidizing a silver ring so that it looks black. The problem is
the oxidization wears off after time especially since it is a ring. I
am using liver of sulphur to oxidize the silver. Does anyone know of
a different process or some sort of seal that would keep the
oxidization on the ring...

I am using pure silver wire to make braclet lnks. Does it matter what
order I do the soldering in. should I solder the rings first, or pound

Thanks

Investment Castings problem -- surface defects caused by ...? by
Paul Wilson
Folks,
I sent some very nice waxes off to be cast in sterling, but a few came
back with surface defects. My casting guy says it's because the cast
pieces were "too heavy." I think it was a problem with the investing
technique.
What is your diagnosis? I posted pictures...

hydrogen peroxide/pickle trick question by
Carl 1 Lucky Texan
I was just wondering if the hydrogen peroxide in the pickle maneuver for
'un-plating' silver (which has inadvertently been plated from touching
iron while in the pickle) would have any positive effect/remove 'firestain'.
