Jewelry school by TIJT sucks
Alot of people say that the Paris jewelry school is the best in the nation. If that is the case I would hate to see the worst. The reason I say this is because I graduated from there several years ago. Upon graduation I looked for jobs all through the state of Texas and Oklahoma and the best job I...

Soldering a silver braid necklace? by DaveC
I have a necklace that I want to put a charm onto. The necklace has no clasp; it is a 1-piece, continuous "rope" (braid) type with a solder joint on it that I can feel. How does one go about soldering such a necklace after it is "unsoldered" and the charm put on? Web references? Step-by-step...

info please by Valerie
I have had this necklace quite a few years now. I bought it at an estate sale. I don't know a thing about it still, even after searching thru web sites. I was once told the chain is copper and I assume that the blue stone is cut glass..but if anyone can add a little insight I would appreciate it....

New to group by gwacie
Hi there. I've been reading the list and thought I'd say hi. I'm a glass artist (beads and larger stuff) who also does some jewelry work (wire work and basic silver smithing). Right now I'm working on getting better at sawing nice shapes (thereby reducing that infernal filing time!!). Anyway, Hi!

when your fave bead shop gets popular by Fitpix
Went to Pink Flamingos yesterday in Powell Ohio. 16 inch strands of 8mm jasper beads (various types) are now $9 and up. It was the first time I ever walked out of there without buying a single thing. It was packed so I guess they can justify the price hike, but I will never be back there. I will...

beads not amber - but what are they? by Richard Wright
I have a necklace supposedly bought in the 1930s. Photo at http://www.filepocket.com/users/51/Necklace1.jpg The photo captures the colour and texture reasonably well. The more orange parts are in fact just translucent, and the yellower parts opaque inclusions.
