Class Today by Alison

It's very cool - you just knit, using double decreases and "make ones" and when it's finished, you fold and suddenly it's a little sweater. Of course I got about 10...

Reading a Chart in the Round by hesira
When you follow a chart for knitting in the round, do you read it as you normally do: bottom right to left, then left to right, zigzagging upwards? TIA Hesira

Sudoku Lap Throw by BonnieBlue
I wanted to share something that came up in discussion a couple of weekends ago when knitting with some friends. One person had seen an afghan/lap throw done in the manner of a Sudoku puzzle. There were nine colors with a number (1-9) assigned to each color. You take a solved Sudoku puzzle...

Finally, a use for aluminum DPNs by Wooly
I don't like aluminum needles. They're cold, they stay cold, they have no give, they hurt my hands. But I have finally found a use for the odd aluminum DPNs that seem to have found their way into my bag: hairsticks! Today I broke my last bamboo hairstick as I was jabbing it into my bun. As I...

Flat yarn by [email protected]
Hi, I was hoping someone could help me. I'm been looking to find some flat parallel cotton yarn and can't seem to find any. I'm looking for something that's around 8 un-spun strands of 3ply cotton yarn laid flat on a roll. It looks like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/256775576/ Any...

Pirate invasion by Eastern Edge

You won't believe this by spampot
Anyone here get The Stitchery catalogue? I haven't embroidered for decades, and I was just about to toss the catalogue in the recycling when I turned it over and on the back was "Knit Lite." Lighted knitting needles. Yes!! For a mere $15.95, you can own a pair of plastic needles (sizes 6,...

Ladies Workbook - free ebooks by B Vaughan
I've found a great website: http://manybooks.net It has thousands of books that can be downloaded free, in all sorts of formats. They ask for a contribition, and I gave them one, because they deserve it. Most of the books are pre-1930s, and thus out of copyright, but there are a few more recent...

Large circular needles by Vintage Purls
Hi all, I have a pattern that calls for #13 24" circular needles. Now I'm in N.Z. and we use the metric system, so I think that the equivalent is 9mm, 60cm. Trouble is the largest I can find in local shops is 8mm (and then only in 100cm length). Can anyone suggest a good online source for needles...

Yar! Ahoy Matey! by Wooly
A week late (two weeks late?) for TLAP day, but a month early for Halloween. I'm sending the sprout out as a pirate this year, this is part of his costume. Next I need to make him an eyepatch (black with an orange S&B) but that won't take long. I made this dubblemussa-style using Cascade220 in...
