Wood: Yew do it? by
Maybe?
But, bamboo *does* do it!.
It turns out that commercial bamboo needles in sizes ~ US #4 - #6 do have a
spring constant that is suitable for use with a knitting sheath or pouch.
This opens up a world of fast and easy knitting for those of you that like
looser fabrics. With # 4 *aluminum*...

Marching towards fine knitting by
First, I wish to thank Els van Dam for sending me a big bunch of stuff on
knitting sticks (de breischede). Some uncharitable folks might call it
"evil enablement' but I think it was sweet and she is very generous of her
time and treasure.
Second, this morning, I made a reproduction of a "goose...

Eviler enabler; Rosewood DPN by
Joanns has rosewood DPN on sale on their site.
I do not know if these needles are any good, or if the mark down is really
significant.
I bring it up because Joanns is the very last place I would normally suggest
that anyone look for needles : )
My dogwood is in bloom.

?? Is something knit on a manual knitting machine "hand knit"? by
I am seeing items made on knitting frames, i.e., manual knitting machines,
labeled as "hand knit". Is this legal, or fair and proper?
And, are there stitches, designs, or patterns that can not be "machine knit"
and thus demonstrate to knowledgably people that the object was knit with
needle in...

Dealing with left over yarn by
We had a very good thread on storing needles.
So how do people deal with those little balls of yarn left over from a
project? How do you store them? They do not fit in a file folder!
Do you keep the gauge trial with the left over yarn? But, some of my gauge
trials are stitch samplers that I...

appology by
Recently, I said some bad things about bamboo needles. I must apologize.
The SPN bamboo that came in this morning had a nice finish on them. I cut
them down, and trimmed them into nice 12.5" bamboo DPN. Then, I drilled out
a knitting sheath to fit these US size 5 needles, and now I have a...

Gauge Poll by
Last November, I stated knitting series of swatches in the same yarn and
stitch pattern but in with different sized needles. For example, I would
knit Lion Brand wool in the same stitch on USA size 1, 3, 5, & 7 needles.
then every time I was talking to someone, I would pull the swatches out...

Hello everyone!
It's been a long time since I've posted. I see a lot of names I
recognize. I read the recent update about Gemini, and I hope she's
doing better! Here's a quick update from me.
This July I got married in Las Vegas. We had a great time with our
family and friends who were able to come...

Woven knit rug/lawnchair yarn by
A A
A few years ago my parents got me three colors of woven rug yarn to
replace the seats on lawn chairs. I lost the directions to replace the
seats on the lawnchairs and now have used the woven rug yarn to start a
crocheted rug but all I get is a single crochets thing resembling a
basket. My mother...

The PEI trail to Wool by
Aaron Lewis

We were staying at this inn on Cape Breton, and they had a nice ceramic bowl
in the hall. We inquired, and the potter that made the bowl, had her studio
right around the corner. We found it (no road signs)! The Potter's husband,
