Getting To Know Your Wire Before Making Jewelry Part I by
[email protected]
Beginning to work with wire to make jewelry designs requires practice
and patience. The most affordable wire to practice with is 18- gauge
copper wire. This type of wire is easy to find at hardware stores and
often can be found at craft stores too. Once you have practiced
enough to feel...

Year of the "S"? by
mbstevens
In my area, the airwaves are saturated
with ads from major jewelry stores
about these little diamond pendants shaped like a
lazy "S" -- these are about the only jewelry ads on TV this
year. The ads are all about the little "S"s sparking passion
in one's mate. My question is, would anyone want a...

In Search of the Lost Silver by
Richard
At least twenty years ago I purchased a specialty cast silver product,
which looked like a lot of little flat beads joined up in a long
strip, sold in foot long sections. The beads were around 0.1" wide,
and 0.050"thick, or 2.8mm wide by 1.3mm thick. Although it was stiff
like silver rod, I could...

Bob,
On another group you wondered if the forged approval message that had been
posted to this group ( rec.crafts.jewelry ) actually made it to the group.
You also had kind things to say about Peter. Perhaps Peter will either add
to this post or reply in a follow up post about the fact that...

Bulova L3 14K, Running: Scrap Metal??? by
[email protected]
I have a mens Bulova L3 in 14k gold. It seems to run fine, and has
just the usual scratches on the crystal. It has a nice gold tone
expandable band which is U.S. made but I'm not sure if it is an
original Bulova band. Can't find any markings except for made in the
U.S. and patent pending.
I've...

How to get a white Silver finish? by
Paul WIlson
Folks,
I noticed that silver castings are, well, white...right after casting.
One does then polish them to make them shiny like silver.
How might I turn a polished piece back to the white state?
I have some cast seashells that need that white finish.
Thanks,
Paul Wilson

to start. (Maybe...
