Quilting About,com by
Sally Swindells
I've just been looking at
http://quilting.about.com/
Its got a new 'Guide' and has really changed. Lots of help for
beginners there, and a few useful free patterns and plenty of handy
hints.

need some more help by
Jacqueline
I am at wits end again. I know that even though I have bought precut
blocks etc, that I will have to do some cutting some time. And even
if I don't have to I want to try it and see if I can. Now here is
what I need to know.
I need to get me a mat, rotary cutter, and rulers, do you...

Looking for a pre-cut quilt for a beginner by
Jacqueline
Hi all,
I use to post here years ago, always wanted to learn to quilt, when I
finally got the nerve to try it my mother got sick and I never did. I
am no longer able to use my hands like I use to could and would like
to find a precut quilt for a beginner. I also will be machine

OT - all of it irrelevant including the Census by
Cats
Last night was Census night in Australia, so we have all
been herded, counted and categorised. As I used to work for
the Bureau of Stats I dutifully did my bit. But I was
disappointed that they no longer have space for some of the
lifestyle questions that really used to be interesting (like...

Welcome my temporary QI! by
Kate Dicey
We have borrowed a pooch for a week. Her name is Scamp, and she belongs
to friends who are off to a folk/morris dancing festival for a week,
after a wedding today, so as this isn't too far away and they couldn't
get pooch friendly B&B or camping (and anyway, the pooch would have had
to spend...

question......how many 4 inch blocks by
Jacqueline
You all don't know how much help you have been to me just getting
ready to get started trying to learn to quilt.
Can someone please tell me about how many 4 inch squares it would take
to make just a plain quilt, no patterns, just squares sewn together?
I would like to make it for a full size...

Mariner's Compass - book recommendation by
Hanne Gottliebsen
No, I don't get a share of the profits, but I want to recommend this
book, because I think it is excellent:
Mariner's Compass Quilts: Setting a New Course New Process, New
Patterns, New Projects
Author: Judy Mathieson
I just did my first ever Mariner's Compass (sorry no pic at this time).

Directory testers needed! by
AliceW
Well, I think the Directory is ready to go, but I need a few test entries to
make sure everything is working ok. So, the form will be open for the next
15 minutes or so. It would be great to have a variety of entries, some
domestic, some international. These will only be test entries - if you...

Need ideas for 6 very similar fabrics by
quilternow
Somehow I have 5" squares of 6 different -yet similar colors of fabric.
The light and dark of it are only a few shades apart. Too similar and
I cant think of anything that would contrast in a good way. They are
all in the "peach" hue. I think I have enough of them all for a couple
quilts....any...

You have been warned! by
Polly Esther
I hope everyone read Debbi's thread about her missing foot pedal at her SM
dealer's shop. Did all of you stop what you were doing and go write your
name on your SM, its case, little flat thing they call a table, foot control
and any feet you're likely to carry anywhere? Probably not but do let...

Blood -- NOT OT by
gloworm
Hello Quilters. I don't get to post much any more, but I try to keep
up with what is going on -- praying with you and happy dancing for you
and all.
I'm just about to finish the baby quilt for my newest grandson, Ashton,
who was born in December (I'm a little slow - I have no machine). They
will...

Frustration.... by
Sandy Foster
I've been babysitting a lot for the past few days -- all the more so
since DH is out of town and can't give me a break all day long. It's
been a long time since I've had toddlers around for any length of time,
and it wears me out! G But that's not what has me frustrated -- it's
just probably...

August Block of the Month - posting for Danielle - it's early! by
Cappy
I'll be on vacation next week and not close to a computer. So I thought
that I'd post the BOM early instead of having everyone wait until the 7th.
Thought there might be some itchy to start! grin
Cappy
How this BOM works is I will post block patterns each month near the
beginning of each...

quilt classes by
quilter
Hi all, I'm back from the Lowell quilt festival and my first quilt
class ever (first four actually). Lesson #1 learned: 4 classes in 4
days is ALOT. It was exhausting, but also great fun. I feel like I
did a little of everything and worked a little outside of my comfort
zone here and there, and...

Finished A Quilt (Pics) by

Woooo! Finished a Quilt.
http://community.webshots.com/myphotos?action=viewAllPhotos&albumID=553028460
The embroidery designs are by BFC Creations. They were buggers though. Took
more embroidery thread than I had (I cheated and got creative with regular
sewing thread when needed). Each took well...
