a discovery by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Well, I'll declare. I've been uppity about thread fuzzies for years.
Turned my nose up at anything that would cause Miss Bernina to fill up with
fog. I've felt deprived and abused if I had to use anything but very
special threads.
Wrong.
The quilt blocks on the design wall now are red...

Help... sewing diamonds by
Sunny[_2_]
Hi, I think I asked once before, but the stupid cells are taking over
my brain and I can't remember or find instructions. How do I piece
diamonds together? I'm going nuts trying to figure out a technique
that's something other than sew them together, take them apart and try
another smidge to one...

OT, sort of - Stitching problem with Bernina 400QEE by
CaroleD
Leslie, I got out the manual and checked all that about possible things I
should do beforehand and could find nothing. Then I called the Sewing
Center and asked, and they said you should just push it
gently and it would catch into a depressed position. Well, sorry, but
that's JUST NOT...

huge whine by
teleflora
I HATE sewing long seams. I found out I don't sew so straight. It's not
really a problem with 4 inch seams, but the borders on this huge quilt are
AWFUL. And there's like 30 borders.
Not really but is seems like it. Plus, I've had to move my sewing area out
to the kitchen so I can work on the...

Problem SOLVED with the 440 QE by
CaroleD
Thanks to Cheryl in Oz, whose dealer demonstrated her new 440 for her before
she took it home. She told me to try turning the machine off and pushing in
the button before installing the BSR and turning it on. I did it and the
button actually went in and stayed in. I installed the BSR and it...

Seven-Shirt Quilt by
Mary
I decided to give that 7-shirt quilt pattern a try, and got the shirts
for it! I went to the local Salvation Army store, where they have
tons of shirts at very low prices, and even happened to be there on a
half-price day! I actually bought 10 shirts, though, just because I
wasn't entirely sure...

OT, sort of - stitching problem with Bernina 440QEE by
Carole-Retired and Loving It
I finally decided to get a Bernina 440 QEE. I've never owned a
Bernina. I was happy with the store model. However, I'm having a
!!$#@##!! time with the new one now that I'm home. I haven't even
gotten to the embroidery module or the BSR. I'm just trying to get a
nice, normal, straight stitch. ...

Guess who won a quilt? Guess who has a problem with said prize? by
Pat in Virginia
Today I won a quilt at a church raffle. It is an embroidered quilt. The
fabric was purchased with the blue dots for the embroidery and for the hand
quilting stitching. The maker finished the quilt and did not remove the blue
dots. She may even have pressed the quilt top. In any case, the quilt...

new sewig machine by

Good morning
Well I finally did it. I bit the bullet and bought myself a brand new
Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 850. I'd been longing for this machine for
more than a year now, but €1200 ($1793) was a bit much to pay for
what is really a capricious toy as I do have a perfectly functional,
good...

question by
Ruby
I have a large queen sized quilt pieced and layered and pinned. i am
just learning to machine quilt, free hand so am not ready to try my
skills on the quilt.
Now the question. I will be going away for 3 1/2 months , will it do any
damage to leave the quilt pinned or should I take them out....

Michelle:
We lived in Killeen/Hood area twice ... in early 70s and again 70s/80s. So I
guess our time there overlapped a bit with yours. (The quilting community is
such a small town, yes?) I really liked the post and the area. We have such
nice memories. I did not quilt then, but was...

FMQ question by

I am starting a lapquilt that will have directional quilting, meaning
left to right or top to bottom. I know you are supposed to start in
the center of the quilt, and I might still do that, but... what is you
were to start at a side and work to the middle, then start the other
side and work to the...
