Lap quilting hoops. Good or not? by
Sartorresartus
I use a combination of 3-rail floor frame, round hoop and Q-Snap-type
frames for hand quilting.
I do like my quilting to be portable, but I rarely need to carry it
far, so I always baste it and then I can whip it onto the floor frame
or take it off and dump it in my bag. I like the large frame...

OT 3A grrrrr by
NightMist
I thought that one of the whole points of AAA was that they had rules
and stuff that apply to the buisnesses they send to you when they
call? So that it might cost you half the earth, but you weren't stuck
on the side of the road for hours and hours.
So the van was stuck on the side of the road...

Feel for me? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I like to keep a few yards of Minkee here for the times that somebody needs
a chemo hat or pillowcase or their baby is teething and needs the comfort of
that very special feel. A dear friend of mine even kept a scrap of it in
her pocket to rub when doing awful medical stuff.
In shopping...

Qs about shirt fabrics and long-arm quilting by
Edna Pearl
As I start to cut into these shirts I've been asked to make memorial quilts
out of, I see that they are of very fine quality workmanship and fabrics.
Some are cotton, others linen, and some are a cotton-poly fabric. Many are
heavy fabrics made of heavyweight thread and high thread counts.
The...

RCTQ Annual Quilting Weeks 2010 by
Pat in Virginia
Hello.
We are in the final days of our annual quilting week. Are you having fun?
Did you get much done? Did you spend more time with your quilting than
usual?
It's not over yet. Even if you don't have time to sew or even cut fabric,
you may enjoy shopping for supplies, or reading a quilting...

OT - Comforting thoughts needed please by
DiMa
My DHs brother died today after 1 long year of illness. A benign tumour that
just kept growing until it killed him. It has been removed one, but it grew
back much more vigorously that at first.
He is at peace now, thank God. It is such a relief for his partner and
brothers but so sad for us...

Jinny Beyer by
Dannielle
Ok, so I was lucky enough to meet Jinny at her shop when I went on a
shop hop with a friend a few months ago. I was actually excited to be
in the presence of "celebrity" and was probably a bit shell shocked
without even realizing it. I shopped, I spent too much money, I
chatted briefly with Jinny...

O/T Need prayers for DH by
GrammyKathy[_2_]
Just sent DH and his son off to the VA. DH came home last night with
a fairly large hard knot under his right eye and it was red. He woke
up with it still there and under his eye was puffy. I am worried that
it could be cellulitis again. He could use some prayers. I sent his
son with him so he...

OT - Please donate blood and save a life! by
Jo Gibson
Dear friends,
Perhaps the most touching part of my story is that 16 people who I don't
know and will probably never meet saved my life. How? They donated
blood. When I was in the theatre and they had to open me up again after
the Caesarian section, I lost 9 litres of blood and required 14...

Fabric search URL? by
Leslie& The Furbabies in MO.
Help, please? I need to find more fabric from Laurel Burch's Ocean Songs
line... but I can't remember the URL for the fabric shop site that searches
many, many quilt shops. I think it may be the folks who sponsor the big
online Shop Hop? I've searched online for it but only find her more...

OT - Brief update on "Knowing how to have fun...." by
Rita L in MA
I am happy to report that I went back to the hospital yesterday and got
a second fluid infusion. I feel great today!! The most gratifying part
of this is that Dr. D. actually had one of the nurses call me yesterday
morning to find out how I was doing. She wanted to be sure that I felt
better...

Well, for the time being, I'm at home, but yesterday was: at the
school, at the doc, at the xray dept, home, at the ER, home...then
this morning it was to a different doc
Rebekah and another student collided on the playground yesterday and
she wound up with a broken nose - other kid just had a...

Dumb as you look? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Not OT. There's no LQS here, not even a WalMart with sleazy FQs. We have
to drive many miles to shop for quilting needs and have to buy online most
of the time.
It just makes me angry enough to pop when an online shop gouges me with
postage charges. I can read. I can weigh. I have...
