Bisque Fire question by
[email protected]
So....
I accidently used Cone "4" to bisque fire a large number of vases,
mugs, bowls etc.... Obviously I meant to use Cone "04"...
Anyone know what the result is going to be? I'm going to do a test
glaze fire shortly however I'm worried the pots are not going to accept
any glaze.
Thanks

bisque firing stacking by
Steve Powell
I have stacked dinner plates four high. The foot rings are largely the same
size. Am I likely to regret my economic stacking, or can I get away with it?
Thanks
Steve.

Bisque firing temp? by
GaSeku
Is there a general rule about what temp (cone) to fire to the bisque stage? For
example, is it usually one cone under what you would use for glaze? I have some
clay that is Cone 5 and it seems I read that you fire at a lower cone for
bisque than when you glaze.
Thanks for answering all my ultra...

Can u help?
I work with stoneware and have just been experimenting with slipware and
sgraffitto designs. At the moment I have three slips made up - white,
cobalt blue, and copper green. I decorated the ware when still 'green' with
the blue and green slip, bisque fired, then covered with a...

Blistering on Stoneware by
Davis Salks
I have been struggling with this problem for about a year now. Can
anyone please help with any suggestions or comments? I am getting a
variety of blister sizes. The areas affected seem to be verticle
surfaces, the underside of plate rims, edges of plates, but
interestingly, not the rims of taller...

Blue ceramics by
Jake Loddington
No: not cobalt.
Some while ago, I saw a photograph of a porcelain vase with a blue
shadowgram image. I assumed that this was a cyanotype image (the father
of the engineers' blueprint), and was therefore unfired.
I read up about this antique photographic process, which pre-dated even...

borax by
Red Deer
Hi Everyone,
When a glaze recipe calls for borax, is that the same thing as what I
can get at the grocery store called 20 mule team borax in the laundry
department?
Thank you for any help you can give me,
Sandi

Hello Everyone,
Does anyone know why antique mixing bowls were left unglazed on the
rim? I'm trying to make a set of mixing bowls like the old ones and I
was curious about that. Thanks

Link to Gettysburg photos showing the Gettysburg battlefield before
superintendent John Latschar's ego ran amok and ruined it.

We loved Gettysburg: married there, took dozens of week-long trips, spent
many thousands of dollars there, and even considered moving there....
